Eco-friendly self-consolidating concrete production with reinforcing jute fiber

Self-consolidating concrete (SCC) has many advantages compared to traditional concrete. However, it often suffers from high brittleness that limits its various applications. Reinforcing the SCC by fiber inclusion can be a fruitful way enhance performance. This study aims investigate how rheological and mechanical characteristics of are affected addition jute fibers for specific length 20 mm at volumetric fractions 0.1%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, 1%. Slump flow, J-ring V-funnel, L-box, Sieve stability tests were performed properties reinforced self-consolidating (JFR-SCC); while, compressive, splitting tensile, flexural strength conducted determine 7 28 days. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) testing was also used examine microstructures JFR-SCC. These hardened states then with control SCC. JFR-SCC satisfactorily in terms flowability, viscosity, segregation resistance. adding more than 0.25% mixes significantly passing ability. The maximum improvements 2%, 21%, 18%, respectively, over reference mix fill microcracks prolong ultimate failure. Hence, adopted as an eco-friendly alternative artificial fibers.
